The pediatric physiotherapist treats children with various illnesses and problems. The physiotherapist is also trained to diagnose health problems from the start. Examples of childhood illnesses supported include: Birth defects, Cere- bral Palsy, Autism, Down Syndrome, Muscular Dystrophy and associated disorders, Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis, Arthrogyposis, Cardio-PulmonaryDisorders, Cystic Fibrosis , and Traumatic Brain Injury. In addition, many children present with hypotonia and developmental coordination disorder without a formal diagnosis. Orthopedic condi- tions that can also be treated with PT include scoliosis, back pain, sports injuries, fractures, and orthopedic surgeries. Others are Spina bifida, cerebral palsy, torticol- lis, Congenital problems including, Cerebral palsy, Deve- lopmental problems including ataxia and dyspraxia, head trauma, brain and spinal cord cancer, Diseases of the spinal cord, peripheral nerve damage, learning difficulties, brachial plexus injury(Erb’s palsy).etc
